In the circuit shown in Figure 34-01.1, determine the parameters "g".

The parameters "h" are given by the following equations:

To calculate g₁₁ by making I₂ = 0. Therefore, if there is no current flowing at the output of the quadripole, can be applied a current source in the input. For example, 6 A, and we calculate the relations that we want. See in the Figure 34-01.2 the circuit in the new configuration.

Se I₁ = 6 A and, by applying a current divider, in the resistor of 4 ohms will pass a current of 4 A and, of course, a current of 2 A on the other two resistors. It is concluded that E₁ = 4 x 4 = 16 volts and E₂ = 6 x 2 = 12 volts. Now we can easily calculate the values of g₁₁ and g₂₁.

Following the same reasoning, we calculate g₁₂ and g₂₂, by making E₁ = 0, that is, a short circuit at the input. In the output, a current source of 4 A is introduced. In the Figure 34-01.3 we show how the circuit was. Note that due to the short circuit in the input, the resistor of 4 ohms can be omitted of the circuit.

Due to the current source in the output, obviously, I₂ = 4. By making a current divider we can determine the currents in the other resistors. These values are indicated in the circuit shown in the figure above. So, E₂ = 6 x 1 = 6 volts, I₁ = -3 and , as E₁ = 0 we can determine the other parameters.
