Find the value of V with the information provided by the circuit shown in Figure 10-17.1.

Solution of the Problem 10-17

With the information provided by the circuit, we easily calculate the value of V_be. Then:

V_be = 10 x 2 = 20 volts

With this value it is possible to calculate I₁, so:

I₁ = V_be / (5 + 15 ) = 20 / 20 = 1 A

The next step is to determine the value of I₂. But of the circuit we have:

I₂ = 2 + I₁ = 2 + 1 = 3 A

It is now possible to calculate the value of V_ae. Then:

V_ae = 20 I₂ + V_be = 60 + 20 = 80 V

With the value of V_ae it is possible to calculate the value of I₃, or:

I₃ = V_ae / 80 = 80 / 80 = 1 A

And so, the value of I is calculated, since:

I = I₂ + I₃ = 3 + 1 = 4 A

And with the value of I we easily calculate the value of V:

V = 60 I + V_ae = 60 x 4 + 80 = 320 V
