Use a voltage divider and calculate the voltage V_bc in the circuit show in Figure 10-13.1.

Looking closely at the circuit shown in the figure above, it can be seen that the two resistors (from 12 and 8 ohms) can be removed of the circuit without prejudice to the determination of V_bc. Thus, the topology of the circuit can be rearranged for a better understanding of how it can be seen in the Figure 10-13.2.

In the figure above, it can be seen that the three resistors are in series. This facilitates the application of the voltage divider, since it is enough to apply the equation that determines V_bc.

Another way would be to calculate the electric current circulating in the circuit and then apply the Ohm law.
