At the input of a resistive network, a sinusoidal signal with 10 watts of the power was injected and at the output, a power of 3 watts was measured on the load. Calculate the loss of power caused by the resistive network.
Solution of the Problem 57-2
By the statement of the problem one must calculate gain (or loss) of power. It is known that
Po = 3.0 W and Pi = 10.0 W.
The equation for calculating the gain or loss of power is given by:
Therefore, making the numerical substitution:
Therefore, we conclude that there is a loss of power (note the negative sign of the result)
of the order of - 5.23 dB with respect to the input signal.
