Problem 102-8
Source: Problem prepared by the website author.
A machine has 456 slots in the rotor. Answer whether the following windings are possible:
a)simplex winding with 6 poles;
b)triplex winding with 6 poles;
c)duplex winding with 8 poles;
d)simplex winding with 10 poles.
Solution of the Problem 102-8
To solve this problem we will use eq. 102-9a, repeated below for clarity.
eq. 102-9a
Item a
To apply eq. 102-9a, we know that C = 456, m = ± 1 and P = 6, therefore:
yc = 2 (456 + 1) / 6 = 152.33
yc = 2 (456 - 1) / 6 = 151.66
From the results, we realized that we did not obtain an integer value, whether for a progressive or regressive step.
Therefore, this configuration is not possible.
Item b
In this case, we know that C = 456, m = ± 3 and P = 6, therefore:
yc = 2 (456 + 3) / 6 = 153
yc = 2 (456 - 3) / 6 = 151
Based on the results, we obtained an integer value in both cases. So, it is possible to use a forward or backward step.
Therefore, this configuration is possible.
Item c
In this case, we know that C = 456, m = ± 2 and P = 8, therefore:
yc = 2 (456 + 2) / 8 = 114.5
yc = 2 (456 - 2) / 8 = 113.5
From the results, we realized that we did not obtain an integer value, whether for a progressive or regressive step.
Therefore, this configuration is not possible.
Item d
In this case, we know that C = 456, m = ± 1 and P = 10, therefore:
yc = 2 (456 + 1) / 10 = 91.4
yc = 2 (456 - 1) / 10 = 91
Based on the results, we obtained an integer value only for the regressive step, making this project viable.
